Dungeons & Dragons: New 2024 Players Handbook

Review:

This is a new Fifth Edition Rule Book for 2024.

The new 2024 Players Handbook is a new version of Dungeons & Dragons, for the same Fifth Edition version Adventure Modules.

To me, this reads like a Hasbro SRD5 expanded re-write.

The point….

Play the biggest Dungeons & Dragons edition ever with new expanded rules.

This book REPLACES the Hasbro Public Domain SRD version with new definitions.

Like this….

On Srd you can’t say Dungeon Master, so in my game I say Narrator.

In response to this backlash to Hasbro, they have changed most definitions to make a new original book off Srd.

Lame rules, like character boosts all now set at level 3 instead of 1 – 3.

As a typical example, then new expanded rules to make more dynamic game characters.

Characters have been expanded like I said in the Playtest backlash..now incudes character origins and you don’t need the last Dungeons & Dragons multiverse rules expansion set with Monsters Of The Multiverse.

Now this has been slimmed down and added to the character creation section of the Players Handbook.

To make new expanded characters for the same adventure modules.

From the new origins section.

For house rules players, this will be a brand new version of Dungeons & Dragons.

Like myself, players may need to make a translation table to learn the new terms or also use the 2014 Fifth Edition rules to compare the differences and learn the new rules.

This new version does lock the new rules and players may find it challenging translating them if they play the Fifth Edition Modules or Third Party Content.

The new rules also have an updated Monster Manual with new monsters or variations not available in the 2014 Monster Manual which locks the game to the new rule set for most players.

Another new Starter Set has also been announced, which is fast becoming a new Starter Set book series for Hasbro.

The main point…

Learn Dungeons & Dragons on this book set with new game terminology, different character variations and new monsters.

Note, one of my favorite parts of this book is the new character sheet is included to photocopy in the players handbook…my second favorite part being the new character origins section, also included in the Players Handbook.
