Dungeons & Dragons: Example, Creating a Sorcerer In The Next Players Handbook 2024, Based On One D&D Playtest – Updated
Here is an example from the new Hasbro Dungeons & Dragons playtest (One D&D – Unearthed Arcana), these are examples of what Hasbro is saying will be in the new Players Handbook 2024.
To use this material you need the One D&D Playtest Material, Xanathar’s Guide To Everything and Tasha’s Cauldron Of Everything.
You do not need the Dungeons & Dragons 2014 Players Handbook to play this test, only the books listed here.
Start with the new Players Handbook from the playtest version and you need to choose Character Origins and Subclasses.
Then, update this with the new Sorcerer Options from the Dungeons & Dragons Rules Expansion Books (Xanathar’s Guide To Everything & Tasha’s Cauldron Of Everything).
New Test Options, the difference between the 2014 Players Handbook and the next version 2024 Players handbook are listed in grey as test values only.
Select you Race (Species) and THEN add Character Origins / Backgrounds….
This will create a generic character for the next core rule book versions using test values, after this then you select your new Subclass.
Sorcerer
The Subclass is added to the character AFTER, you select your Race / Species.
Then you must add the bonuses from both sections to your character sheet as new character adjustments.

Other Examples:
Example in the game include characters from the new Dungeons & Dragons Movie starring Chris Pine the Bard and Hugh Grant the Rogue.
This section shows the new character options for the new movie Dungeons & Dragons characters.
Another comment from myself is the movie helps lend content to character origins for creating character sheets in this book.

Here’s where the Playtest Is Confusing:
I think you are supposed to use the new material only to create the character like the Sorcerer, using the expansion books and playtest material, if you can’t find this there or understand it start with the Sorcerer in the Players Handbook 2014 and then finish the character sheet on the playtest material.
For example, I think the idea of the new version during the playtest is to create the character with Xanathar’s Guide To Everything & Tasha’s Cauldron Of Everything THEN add new options above from the 2024 Players Handbook playtest to finished your test character for the next Players Handbook rules version 2024.
If you can’t find or understand the options here use the 2014 Players Handbook version to finish the character options.
Subclass Table For Sorcerer From Xanathar’s Guide To Everything
Steps To Create Your Updated Sorcerer Character for the next Dungeons & Dragons Core Rule Book version 2014, to the Unearthed Arcana test settings.
Choose your Race / Species.
Select character origins from the One D&D Playtest, Xanathar’s Guide To Everything and Tasha’s Cauldron Of Everything.
Select Your Class: Sorcerer
Sorcerer
Select new Subclass from Subclass Table in Xanathar’s Guide To Everything.
After this you must put all this together for your character sheet….
Again, select Race (Species), The Character Origins and Subclass.
Add all bonuses to your Character Sheet from the combined material to complete your character (One D&D Playtest, Xanathar’s Guide To Everything and Tasha’s Cauldron Of Everything).
The current playtest looks like it is adding options from these books to the new Players Handbook 2024.
At higher levels of the game, adding these options to your character will create new unique player characters for higher levels in the game as the Character Options selections and Subclass Selection take different paths for each player character in the game as Character Level increases during game play.
